Everyone knows revenge is wrong until they are grievously mistreated. As sinners, we tend to respond sinfully to being sinned against. Absalom waited two full years to enact a murderous plot against the brother who had violated his sister. But far from bringing peace and healing, his violent action caused further heartache and division as he retreated to a neighboring country. When wronged, our only hope for advance is to look to the One who chose forgiveness over revenge through His work on the cross.
