In our sermon text, the apostle John exhorts his readers to test the spirits to see if they are from God. He also provides a litmus test for making this determination. As we will see in our sermon, the litmus test is still the same for Christians today: whoever confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God.
