In our sermon text, the Apostle John commands his readers not to love the world nor the things in it. As we will hopefully further unpack in our sermon, it is the passing nature of the world and the things in it, and the fact that the love of God and love for the world are mutually exclusive, that makes the love of the world such a serious threat for the Christian.
