No Other Gospel

Series: Galatians

Rev. John RohrmanJuly 9, 2023Passage: Galatians 1:1-10

In this opening passage of Galatians, Paul’s astonishment and warning is specifically directed at the false 'gospel' that circumcision and other works of the law were required, along with faith, in order to be accepted by God and included among his people. But there are many, many other ways that we, in our day, can be tempted to add to grace and to rely on our own righteousness to make us better than others or good enough for God. When we do that, as Paul warns in Galatians 1, we are distorting the gospel of Christ into a message deserving of an eternal curse. Instead, we must continue to rest in the same gospel we first received.
