Preserving the Truth of the Gospel

Series: Galatians

Rev. John RohrmanOctober 22, 2023Passage: Galatians 2:1-14

Before we become members of this congregation, before we partake of the Lord’s Supper, and before we baptize our children, we verbally affirm that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone. But too often, in the midst of the pressures of home and work, we speak and act as though we are accepted by God, at least in part, on the basis of our own good works. As we will see in our sermon passage, even the apostle Peter struggled to consistently act in ways that were in step with the truth of the gospel he verbally acknowledged. Thankfully, God’s grace to us in Christ covers and delivers us from even our ongoing failure to live in keeping with that grace.
