Joab shattered the fragile peace between Israel and Judah through a bitter mix of jealousy and revenge. David mended the peace, though imperfectly due to the responsibility he avoided. Only Jesus, David’s greater son and Lord, is the Prince of Peace who can not only reconcile us to one another, but to the holy God whom we have offended by making peace through His blood shed on the cross.
