The same crowds who triumphantly cheered for Jesus shouted for his death one week later. The same leaders who despised Rome proclaimed, “we have no king but Caesar.” The same official who said “I find no guilt in him” sentenced Jesus to death. The same disciples who promised to stay with Jesus betrayed and disowned Him in the end. We are fickle creatures with wayward hearts. Our only hope lies in the stalwart Savior who resolutely went to the cross for our salvation. Jesus, the unwavering One, knows our folly but loves us anyway and galvanizes our hearts for God’s glory as we trust in Him by faith.
