Many things are important for a healthy church but only one is essential: the gospel of Jesus Christ. Paul wastes no time warning Timothy about the dangers of false doctrine and urging him to remain true to the glorious gospel as revealed in Scripture. We face many temptations to veer off course in our lives as well, but God’s Word draws us back to the Savior who remained perfectly true to His Father in both doctrine and life.
