There are many good reasons to welcome people warmly. It is a nice thing to do, it builds community, it makes us feel good, and it is something that we appreciate when we are on the receiving end. But beyond even these good things, God’s Word provides a theology of welcome that grounds our reception of others in the grace of Jesus Christ Himself. Through the mercy of the Savior who welcomed us when we were His enemies, we now have supernatural power to welcome those around us for the glory of God and the strengthening of His Church.
