The Latin phrase “post tenebras, lux” (after darkness, light) was a rallying cry of the Protestant Reformation. But thousands of years before the Reformation, David discovered that when God chooses to bless a king in His covenantal grace, light and life always follow. How much more so will God bless those who trust in the greatest King, who dispelled the greatest darkness with the greatest light, through His victory on the cross? Every Christian may cry, “after darkness, light!” through the mercy of the Savior who brings us out of darkness into His marvelous light.
Passage: 2 Samuel 23:1-7
