After proclaiming God’s unilateral saving grace for twenty verses, David appears to lose his mind and switch into a rant about how his own purity, righteousness, and blamelessness have secured God’s reward, leaving us to wonder, “What in the world, Lord? Is this the same man?” But as we will see, David was neither boastful nor insane. It was yet another way to praise the God in whom he had found refuge, the God who offers refuge to everyone who flees to His Son for grace.
